Harry was a NZ Rail stationmaster and was based in many Otago stations including Kurow.
He contracted pneumonia at age 20 at Trentham military camp and later developed TB which caused his death at age 40.

Born at Deborah, Mr Meehan received his education at Totara and St Patricks schools;he joined the Railways Department in 1913, and he filled the positions of clerk and relieving stationmaster at Christchurch, Arthurs Pass, Pleasant Point, Invercargill, Kurow, Cromwell, and Oamaru, retiring on account of ill health 18 months ago; he was a prominent member of the Holy Name Society; he acted as secretary of the Oamaru branchof the NZ Railways officers Institute and was an enthusiastic supporter of rugby and boxing;Mr Meehan is survived by his mother, Mrs Elizabeth Meehan, a twin brother William, and two other brothers, Martin and John.
